YES I agree. Though a short loop checking for shut down is not many cycles or any sort of performance hit, unless you never wait at queue. We use 30 or 60 seconds as our wait time and in 5 minutes of inactivity, the programs uses 0% CPU. But I like the sigaction() and will have to take a closer look.
