Yes, if the CWBPING verified all the servers, that pretty much rules out
firewall and host server issues. Perhaps the device is varied off?

Just out of curiosity, wouldn't the fact that cwbping verified all of the
servers, including Telnet, prove that port 23, which Telnet uses, was open?
I.e., not blocked by a firewall?
Port 23 is the only difference between PC5250 display and Data Transfer
(which runs okay).
If all else fails, I may have to drive down to the store and re-install
Client Access later this week.

iSeries Access telnet client needs four ports open for a standard out of the
box configuration:
1. port mapper, 449
2. Sign-On, 8476 or SSL 9476
3. Telnet, 23 or SSL 992
4. Central, 8470 or SSL 9470
Now you can alleviate the port mapper by specifying STANDARD in the
Connection to the System under "Where to lookup remote port"
