when the default route is set to an IP address which is already in use
of an other server - the default route should be obsolete?
Get rid of the route first, then of the address.

Subject: Getting rid of a TCP interface
Some time ago, we gave one of our AS/400s an outside IP address. One that happens to be the same as one that's currently in use elsewhere.
We never got rid of the internal IP address.
But now, I need it to talk to the box that's the rightful owner of the IP address it was given, and it's not letting me.
And when I try to get rid of the interface with the in-use address, it's telling me that the default route is tied to that interface.
