I was able to get installed in excel 2007.
they have a forums section that helped.

<Excel 2007>
Click big excel button(upper left) -> "Excel Options" -> "Addins" -> Manage 'Com Addins' -> Go. Then click "Add" -> Navigate to "C:\Program Files\SQL Excel\SQLExcel.dll"


then when adding a connection you need to know what the ODBC connection string looks like.
I used:
Driver={Client Access ODBC Driver (32-bit)};
System=1.2.3.4;
Uid=MyUserID;

I'm sure there are other options for library list etc. I just have not had a chance to look them up.
