Another area in the hospital requested that they be able to submit and
print their report. It is a long story.

The prnter they have is a Xerox. That printer has legal size paper in
tray 2. Seemed simple enough. I set up the printer as a device.
Paper drew from drawer 1, which is loaded with 8.5 x 11. But, they
want legal, which is in tray 2. I used a WSCST to swap the tray
codes. Works.

But, because that printer isn't handy to my work area, I got the idea
to convert a Xerox in my department from remote output queue to a
device. Now, this printer has letter size in drawers 3,4,5. With no
WSCST applied, printer wanted to draw from tray 1, which has 17 x 10.
Not what was requested. So, it hangs.

We are on v5r4.

Why did it work when it was a remote output queue? It correctly drew
from some drawer that had letter size paper in it.

I dimly recall something about trays higher than 2 being awkward to
get selected. That was maybe seven years ago. We are no current on
PTFs.

My thinking is the only choice I really have is to convert it back to
a remote output queue. Still doesn't explain how it worked, though.

I >think< a WSCST forced tray 3, but that is a wild guess. It sure
was handy to be able to print from drawer 2 for testing.

Thoughts?
