Just so much simpler than messing about with trying to get weak
support for FTP on the AS/400 working.

I've had the opposite results when putting a 2nd server in the loop in trying to
automate a solution, whether scheduled or unscheduled requests
sent/received. Everyone's scenario will be different, but I would
characterize many of the pc software solutions as being the weaker ftp set when
coordinating the transmission with other processes. You could always add app
logic to the pc side as well... and maintain & coordinate that connection...
Having been through both methods, everyone's mileage will vary.

I have a different tack on this whole issue.

There is so much free software available for the PC like Fling why
mess about with trying to configure the AS/400. Simply put a file into
a IFS folder and have the PC software pick it up and send it on its
way.

Just so much simpler than messing about with trying to get weak
support for FTP on the AS/400 working.
