Our outages on our main lpar are limited to four weekends a year, once a
quarter, announced ahead of time. And we switch over via Mimix to do so.
So we don't like to wait until then for upgrades that can be done
concurrently.

Cache batteries? Hey, if STRSST says:
Concurrently maintainable :
battery pack . . . . . . . . . . .: Yes
and the CE says it doesn't look/feel swollen then we do them concurrently.
But, a week prior to every downtime I do look at STRSST and if "Estimated
time to warning (days)" is less than a specific period (actually the
downtime after the one we are planning for) then we get them replaced. I
would NOT wait until they fail. We had a hell of a wait once because
there was a serious backlog in China on IBM getting those batteries and
they were being rationed.
