Free.

Suggested Retail Price looks like $3,340. Well, at least from IBM.

That's RBD, not EGL. RBD is the Rational tooling which provides Enterprise level EGL support, including JSF thin client and migration from other technologies including VAGen. EDT is the open source version of the EGL tooling.

Looks like there is this, which is presumably free:

Not presumably. Free. And open source!

But if you're looking to start on EGL, this seems like the place to start.

As I noted in my other post, start here for EDT: http://www.eclipse.org/edt.

I don't use EGL, and don't plan on it.

Too bad. You could actually be productively creating rich client applications in a couple of hours.

But I was curious about Joe's "free" comment, b/c up until now I thought you -had- to pay for IBM's RDB to use it.

I've been writing about an open source version of EGL for some time. The Eclipse EDT (EGL Development Tools) project started a year or so ago. This is the first public release.
