Tomask,

Is the external reporting software running under the same CCSID/Code Page as your interactive job? You may have to grab the job's CCSID at run time to determine what to convert from.

Subject: Strange problem with SQL function

Hi

I created a SQL function which retrive customer name based on his
number. Because our names has special polish characters I also
implemented a conversion from polish chars to latin using %XLATE.

When I called this function in interactive SQL session on AS400 - all is
correct - means I get customer name with converted polisch chars to latin.

But when I try to call it inside some external reporting software it get
me a name looks like conversion didn't occured.

What is wrong? When I talked with producer of software and they assumed
that problem is with SQL function, but how if on AS400 it get right
converted name?

Regards

Tomek
