Albert,

Can you put an existing program that reads the record for update into
debug mode and have it break right after a read for update? As long as
the program is breaking it should lock the record. A maintenance
program perhaps?

Gary

Thanks Paul but that doesn't work either.

Albert,

Could you STRSQL COMMIT(*ALL) then SELECT the record to be locked?

I need to be able to lock a record in a file in order to do some
testing.

The system that I am testing on does not have an RPG compiler.

Is there a way to lock a record without writing a program?

Thanks,

Albert
