AVNET, our IBM distributor, told our sales rep. that they can still get us the keys if we had the V5R4 media.

How are you planning on getting keys to run V5R4 on that 270?  End of marketing support was 5/27/2011.  Same date that IBM withdrew end of upgrade support to V5R4 from V5R3.

Did you order V5R4 a long time ago for that serial number and still have the keys?  Or, are you planning on being on it less than 70 days so you can upgrade them to different hardware/os release?  Doable, but living on the edge.
