You do realize that this is a new feature that was recently added in V7R1, to Zip and Unzip files. I just wrote an article on it for my monthly newsletter.

Ditto. But if you have passwords et cetera, you may also consider running the zip utiiity, available for AIX for free, in the PASE. That's what we do, and have done since V5R2.

The simplest and most straightforward way, in my opinion, is to use the
Java facilities that should be on your system. Look into the QSHELL
commands JAR and AJAR. Either of those should serve your purposes.
