I need to apply some PTF's to the primary LPAR this weekend and I will need to IPL the partition. No one will be using the secondary partition at the time and I am wondering the best way to shut it down and start it up.
I have a PC running Ops Console with a console session for each partition. I assume I should PWRDWNSYS the secondary partition before I do the "GO PTF" opt 8 work on the primary? If so, when the primary partition starts will the secondary also start automatically? Or will I need to press the white power on button on the virtual remote control panel? Or will it stay powered down and I will need to go into SST 'Work with Partition Status' and do a '1' there to power it on?
I'd think I'd like the secondary partition to always start after the primary starts. QPWRRSTIPL is set to 'not allowed'; would setting this to 'allowed' help? Or is another setting? I cannot find one.
This is a V5R2 system on a 9406-810 (no HMC).
