Yeah, I think it's about 21 pounds or so (that might include the case, not
that the case weighs that much).

Every time I think about IPLing it I think about the nightmare you have to
go through to get a system password, and it's certainly not worth the effort
just to play with it for a little while. In addition to it requiring a new
system password if it's been powered down for an extended period of time
(how long that is I don't know), I remember that it would ask for a new
system password if I IPLed it without the tape drive connected.
Fortunately, if I just powered it back down and connected the tape drive, it
would IPL without a problem.

I have one sitting in the garage.

It may be approximately the size of a desktop PC, but it weighs in at least
twice as heavy as any desktop I have ever owned. Mine hasn't been IPL'ed in
10 years - it would most likely come up asking for a system password...

The current bid is $30.

It's obviously not a "laptop" but is approximately the size of a desktop PC.
It looks like it is a P01, P02, or P03. The serial number starts with 44,
which means it was manufactured in Italy, which is where the P0x series was
manufactured.

I have a P02 which I purchased in 1994. It originally had V2R3, and I later
upgraded it to V3R2. I'm not sure about the P03, but the P01 and P02 were
twinax-only, so you would need a dumb-terminal to IPL it. Mine had 16MB of
memory and a 2gb hard drive. They also weren't expandable hardware-wise, so
they had a very limited purpose (and pretty much no purpose today). Mine
hasn't seen the light of day since 1998.

hmm in theory you should be able to do a D type IPL from the tape that has
the lic and os, fresh reinstall and voila!
Or you could go into DST and hope for the default password, i dont know when
the "reset os password" setting was added to the DST...
do you have a link? i would like to see such a thing as a laptop AS...

Best regards,

I have no interest in buying a 9401 CISC. But, I am curious. The
seller
states this:

Type: 9401.

S/N: 44-90434

One and the only AS400 "laptop version".

AS400 is in working condition. If I remember well it have V3R??? OS
installed.

Tape with OS is included.

I do not have QSECOFR password.

Softcase, Tape and some cables are included.

I do not have a time to play with it.

I'm selling it AS IS.

No return Accepted

Since seller states "I do not have QSECOFR password", along with it
being
quite old, my thought is that this is essentially junk. Am I wrong?
