Do you REALLY believe that ANYone in Rochester would even consider the thought that putting your busiest files on spinny disk 'so you don't wear out' your SSDs is a good idea? If I knew such a person existed I would lobby at the highest levels for this persons banishment from the entire STATE of Minnesota. This is so absolutely backwards from the level of design for every AS/400, iSeries, System i and POWER System ever made. I cannot even imagine IBM shipping a product like this without a very good understanding of wear patterns, dealing with errors, and handling repairs if necessary. I will NEVER 'baby' a component on any Rochester built system because *I* the uneducated think the item was a poor choice for the task at hand.
