I need to get a ^ character in a string, but I am only getting

need to remember how I fixed that.

If you're using Client Access (or iSeries Access or whatever), you can
paste it. For example, type the caret in Notepad, select it, copy it,
paste it into your terminal window. This may work with other terminal
emulator programs as well, but I only use Client Access.

For a more permanent "fix", you can muck about with the keyboard
preferences. (I have made the Right Control key send Enter, and the
Enter key send Field Exit.)
