That is a difference between DATE implementations? He's writing the article for SQL Server users so SQL Server allows this date while DB2 doesn't?

I've also seen the use of 'last day of the month' dates in billing systems which like to relax the valid date rule to include 2011-02-31.

Did anyone try the sample SQL in his article? My System i didn't like '2011-00-00' as a date. I liked his reason for using it, tho.
