When you and I joined COMMON, Paul, the *only* benefit that the membership
fee got us for the right to pay to go to a conference. In general the
membership fee only covers the administration costs of the organization -
and probably not all of that these days.

I'm a pro-VIP subscriber to System i Network so I can view anything on their
web site; wouldn't expect to be able to do so if I was not.

The ROI, which you mentioned, for attending conferences includes (or should
include) the ability to download the handouts for sessions that you were not
able to attend (or did attend). Plus it beats having to hit the Handout
table at 0700 for yesterday's handouts (still necessary for those the
speaker does not allow to be uploaded).

But perhaps I misunderstood. Why exactly do you think that the reasoning is
bogus?

Sure, if it were reasonable. The reasoning behind limiting it to attendees
only was and still is bogus, as far as I'm concerned.

Would you support paying an additional fee to enable you to access the
handouts?

Currently I don't think the agreement that speakers agree to allows for
that but perhaps in the future that's another offering for the membership.

Then again, there were lots of things which seemed silly to me. I guess
that's why I no longer attend the conferences. I only pay the dues to
reserve my ability to vote.

Right, only conference attendees can get the handouts for the conference.

Thanks Scott. Tried this but could not access it. I was not able to
go to this conference the logon says only people who registered for
the conference can access the presentations. My COMMON member

can't get to any PDFs.
