We are trying to pass through with the STRPASTHR command:

STRPASTHR RMTLOCNAME(XXXXXX) VRTDEV(QPADEV0001 +
QPADEV0002 QPADEV0003)

We only have authority to the 3 devices in VRTDEV.

Two users get this:
Cannot select virtual device QPADEV0003 at system XXXXX (omitted)
Everyone else works ok.

The virtual devices do have QUSER at *CHANGE authority.
I saw that when I googled the problem.
My understanding is that once you issue the STRPASTHR, it uses QUSER authority.
I cannot get on the archives for some reason to check there for an answer.

We are using the same gateway on our network setup on the PC.
I am on WINDOWS 7 which works, and so are the 2 that do not work.

Mine works, and it always moves down the list 0001, 0002, then 0003 finding the next available virtual device.
The ones that do not work always select 0003.
It almost seems that it ‘tries’ 1 and 2 then gives up at 3.
