Been there, been bit by that. Make them SAVE(*yes) and use an expiration date or submit a job with a schedule date/time to remove the file later.

Hi Sam -

On Thu, 02 Jun 2011 19:37:10 -0400, Sam_L <lennon_s_j@xxxxxxxxxxx>

I have created a dataq which I will attach to OUTQs as needed. This
means that each time a spool file is created in RDY status a record is
written to the dataq. I'm assuming that these spool files will print,
since the printers are left on overnight.

I have a short RPG program waiting on the dataq which takes the dataq
data and calls a bound CLLE program that uses the TAATOOL/RTVSPLFA
command to get me the usrdta, number of pages and number of copies.

I then write the info to a database file.

I see a hazard here that a short report could be printed and gone
before the attributes are retrieved.

Opinions expressed are my own and do not necessarily represent the views
of my employer or anyone in their right mind.
