They still haven't announced End of Support.
http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/i/planning/upgrade/suptschedule.html
If they follow what they did with V5R3 after another quarter they will
announce end of support will be in one year from that date. They do
promise a one year notification on end of support (see above website).
V4R5 end of support was less than a month after end of marketing.

End of support for upgrading to V5R4 from earlier releases has also been
announced.

So what does end of marketing mean?
- Announcing end of support probably isn't far off.
- Those of you who wanted to upgrade that last hurrah on old machines to
V5R4 and get license keys are probably out of luck.
- A temporary upgrade to V5R4 to then upgrade to newer hardware and/or
software might still be done but you better have a buddy with media and
you better get it done before the 70 day key on the V5R4 expires.
