Been there, done that. :-(.

Fortunately, almost all of my development is now done with RDP, so I'm
spared that particular problem (fast fingers, I mean).

Although not IBM i related, in the old UCSD Pascal editor you could have
been typing all day, and the only way to "confirm" your code was with
CTRL-C. ESC "disappeared" your text, with no way to recover it. Did that a
couple of times, until I learned to avoid the darn key (and press CTRL-C
from time to time...)
