I've downloaded PTF CD images from IBM and told the download to store them on my PC-- and I designated a mapped network drive to an iSeries Share in the /Root directory and it works just fine.

So you could scan directly to a folder on the iSeries.

Just remember that your iSeries and Network passwords need to match!
