That's the error that I get, but V5R1 won't create a program object. I
thought, maybe, there was something like the GENLVL option in the RPG
compiler (CRTBNDRPG) but couldn't find one.

What release are you using? With V5R3 I get a CPI0306 warning indicating
that the field is going to be treated as a CHAR field, but it compiles
without problems...
