Friday, at Larry's suggestion, I pulled one of the drives of the #2 mirrored pair, and replaced it (adjusting the jumper settings) with one of the non-reporting drives.

That drive's serial number now shows up twice: as a missing drive, and as a non-configured drive.

As I said to Larry:

I'm now seeing, in "packaging hardware resources," a 6607 with the
correct serial number, in device position 1.

It also appears at the bottom of "display disk hardware status." But not
with a unit number. And it's also still showing up there (with the
correct unit number) as a missing drive.

Am I in a position where I can finally do something?

Is this something that "Recover configuration," or one of the other "Work with disk unit recovery" options can fix?
