I would get a 4 way 720 with an HMC, and then you can virtualize partitions
on top of IBM i, very easily. We are doing this at my office. Start with
just 1 processor, with 6 disks minimum with 32GB of memory, then you can
make about 5 to 6 partitions depending on what you need. Can make both 6.1
& 7.1 partitions.

Hello All,
I have probably asked this here before, but I'm going to ask for a refresh
:-)
We're getting ready to spec out a new development machine and want to be
able to have anywhere from 2-4+ LPARS at any time for various development
and testing scenarios.
What would be the minimum general configuration to allow this to work well ?
Furthermore this machine will most likely be racked at our ASP Hosting
Facility which is offsite, so what's the best way to be able to remotely
snap a new LPAR on the fly from disk or remote SAN without sitting in front
of the machine.
