recompiling doesn't affect the exit
point either, unless you stop and start it.  This is
one of the reasons
that I sometimes create a dummy exit program: its sole
purpose is to
call the REAL exit program.  Then I can recompile the
real program and
know it will take effect immediately.

Of course, that depends on things like activation groups
and *INLR, too.
