Will the V5R4 version of System i Access install and run properly in a
virtual PC running Windows XP on a Windows 7 machine?

Yes, the obvious one: Install IBM i Access 7.1 which is supported and
fully functional on Windows 7. The fact that you got System i access
V5R4 working once doesn't help you get any support for it, because it's
not supported. If you have current Software Maintenance on your system
you can get 7.1 for no charge. I simply cannot see any reason whatever
to attempt to run V5R4. Really.
