Sounds like appropriate use of the Transformation Services technology or Infoprint Server as well.  

I believe Infoprint Server can be programmed to burst files on the fly similar to what we do in our AS/400 Report Splitter product.

We want to move toward emailing the customer invoices in pdf format. 
This seems to be a
very nice option for 30-50 invoices a day. It will not require a giant 
change over and appears
to be exactly what he wants.
