We are at V5R4 on both 520s and have been using LAN console for 2-3 years. After Microsoft's patch Tuesday rebooted my PC, my PC has no connection showing for either machine in the System i Operations Console panel. (I was off yesterday so I did not encounter this until I logged into the PC this morning to reboot it.) After a few minutes it does display a dialog with the Day, Date, Time and a message: "Could not connect to 127.0.0.1". I'm not really knowledgeable regarding networks, but isn't 127.0.0.1 the loopback on both systems?

Selecting the "Connection" menu option in the System i Operations Console panel, the only options are to establish a new connection and, of course, Exit. Before I start mucking around and botching everything by proceeding with the new connection option, what should I do?

Is it a simple matter or resetting the password (via STRSST) for QCONSOLE (my console definition, my boss' is QCONSOLE1) and then going through the new connection wizard?

While I'm waiting for a reply, I'm going to reboot my PC (this is Windows after all) and see if that clears up anything. It seems to me (less than mediocre though I am regarding Windows) that one of the patches it downloaded last night either botched my LAN console connections or is interfering with same. If so, how would I determine which patch so that I could remove it?

Thanks.
