As Dan has mentioned if you a are running V6R1 or V7R1 you can create a
Guest Partition. You would create storage space(s) in the base/host
parittion and then throughg the use of virtual SCSI controllers use those
storage spaces as disk drives etc. You can also virtualize Ethernet and the
DVD. If you only have the internal tape, you may want to consider an
external drive. Also you need to consider how this other partition will be
used, because with a guest partition, it will go down when the host
partition goes down.

If your E4A will support Expansion Units (HSL or 12x) then there is an
option to add disk. Also might be able to place a External SAS EXP12s on a
controller in the CEC (cpu) to get more disk,

Also to run a IBM i host/guest setup you will need and HMC if you don't
have one already

I have an 8203-E4A with one disk controller and 20 drives, 10 in each of
the external disk drawers. Currently 100% of the hardware is dedicated
to the only partition with exception of the processor. We have 2.00
units and only are licensed for 1.00 so that is all the partition is
using. I am thinking of creating a new partition on this system. I
will need to add memory but I have more disk arms than I need and we
are at 35% of the storage space used. So I would like to use some of
the space across the pool of disk arms for the new partition.

Is this possible? What additional hardware will I need to partition
this box? Most likely I will need memory and Ethernet ports. Can I
share the disk controller and drives?
