It's been a long time since I had a link loader error. I think it was
back several versions (not just releases) ago. And that normally arose
from
- putting on a new release of the OS
- Trying to put on cume, and dozens of individual ptfs without doing an
IPL in between the cume and the individual ptf's.
I'm crossing my fingers that it's one of those things that went away with
RISC (like temporary address concerns).
I actually used to document the extra IPL specifically to avoid the link
loader issue. And, of course, the guy who almost earned his CDP and is
now in management in El Paso (and I am in Indiana) ignored that step and
jammed his link loader. Remote work back in that day was not a whole lot
of fun. And I've never been to El Paso. Which is just as well because
that might mean a trip to our sister plant in Juarez and I just don't have
that kind of armament.
