This is true if the hardware is doing the encryption. One has to wonder if the hardware (in the case cited in the thread LTO4 with Fibre is capable of hardware encryption) or software was actually doing the encryption. That is entirely in the set up. I've been at customers where both were happening....... they did not know it and we stopped software, thing got much faster after that.
