Allow me to second my boss' reply - our RPG2SQL product isn't free, of course. You do have complete control of the look and feel of the spreadsheet - you can do anything from RPG that you can do with an instance of Excel on a middleware PC that we use. A command is included to export any PF or single-format LF to a spreadsheet. It formats columns according to data type in the PF/LF (those leading zeroes in text fields are preserved!) and autofits column widths as well as can be done automatically, using built-in Excel functionality.

Free 30-day evaluations are always available. Contact me or Rich or Sales if this sounds interesting. The product also lets you work with SQL-based DBMS from RPG directly, in real-time.

Hi Bob,

We use Kemetech's CVTDBFXLS tool for creating spreadsheets from Physical
Files.

Create a CL program to:
1) Run the Query
2) Use CVTDBFXLS to create a spreadsheet, or use one of Scott
Klement's tools to create the spreadsheet
3) You can not 'Prettify' the spreadsheet automatically
4) We use the SNDM command to email the spreadsheet. I found this
free on the internet.

HTH.

Thanx,

Subject: Automating Quary -> File -> Excel
Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Once a month I do the following:

1. Run a query to create a file.

2. Import that file into Excel.

3. Prettify the spreadsheet.

4. Email the prettified spreadsheet to a user.

What is the best way to automate this process?
