Hi,
I have to take he full system backup using GO SAVE option 21.I have to do this thru the Primary Console. Can you please let me know he following:
1.Once I am on primary console,do I have to do any other thing
apart from taking option 21.
Answer: No you dont have to do anything. The control language program that runs will guide you through the process.

2.Do I have to specifically take ENDSYS or ENDSBS (*ALL) and then do option 21
Answer: Again the CLP will do this for you anyway so no need to worry, I would check to be sure all the jobs are shut down properly and that servers such as Domino, WAS etc are shut down manually first.
3.Any other precaution I have to take? Will the system automatically come up after option 21 excutes fully?
Answer: Yes it will come back and optionally IPL (you will be presented with a choice)
4.I guess opion 21 will not throw me out of the system as I will be logged in to QCTL.
Answer: You can only run it from the console since it is a restricted state save (another good argument for the HMC BTW) Since you are on the console you will stay active.
5.I also need to initialize an existing tape of Volume ID DX0091 which has been used before on the same system. Is the following INZTAP command correct:
INZTAP DEV(TAP03) NEWVOL(DX0091) CHECK(*NO) DENSITY(*FMT3590E)
Answer: I would use *devtype instead of setting a density.
I am not sure about the DENSITY parameter. Is the *FMT3590E correct?he tape media type which shows is L3 and Media Class is Ultrium3 and device type is 3580.

Thanks
