Re: characters to not use in files with sql and rpgle functions

I did a lookup in MS Access 2007 - they seem to have 2 supported character sets - ANSI-89 and ANSI-92 - the former has asterisk for any number of characters and question-mark for a single character (like DOS or Windows); the latter has percent for any number of characters and underscore for a single character - same as the i. Now on the i you can specify an "escape" character as part of the LIKE predicate. You precede the wildcard character, and the escape character, to look for those as real characters. MS Access handles some of this with regular expression syntax - square brackets, exclamation for "not" in the square brackets, and pound or hash for any numeric. These are not standard SQL that I am aware of. If they were, I'd expect to be able to use that on the i, since it complies with an even-more-recent SQL ANSI standard.
