I tried changing the parameter definitions in the procedure to type
varchar, and I changed the parameters in the procedure itself to
"varying const", but that still didn't work.

I think the real problem is on the WonderWare side -- for some reason,
the command that I'm defining doesn't think it has the number and type
of parameters that I think I'm telling it that it does have. The
question now is why. Their tech support so far
has been no help, but we have a consultant who says he has worked with
this before, so maybe he'll have some ideas ....

Most
likely that is how they are being passed.

Also, did you use a SBREAK to set a break point and see what value got
passed to your stored procedure? You didn't say what the stored
procedure is
written in.
