I can try changing to VARCHAR and see if that works. I've tried calling it from LotusScript, though (which is like VB), using ADO, and parameter type adChar works just fine ...

Also, did you use a SBREAK to set a break point and see what value got
passed to your stored procedure? You didn't say what the stored procedure is
written in.
