Previously, we had heavily incorporated Office Vision into creating
documents. With the death of Office Vision, a programmer created a VB6
program that listens via a socket to see if there is a letter to be
created. The socket sends a merge string containing the printer,
document name and the merge information to the VB6 program which
launches WORD, merges the information and prints it.
Due to some major compatibility issues (VB6 is dead, and we no longer
have a VB programmer), we should probably be looking in the future for a
replacement. We had a presentation on SSIS & reporting services. Is
there anything out there that runs on iSeries.
Vendor solutions are invited to send me a link, but right now, don't
know if there is any funding for buying software.
