Rich,

You didn't say which E4A you were getting, so I assume it is a one
core, which means the quick answer is no. If, on the other hand, you had a
2 core with an expansion tower, that was HSL2 attached, you could have an
IOP and a LVD SCSI adapter that could drive a bridge-box (which could
contain a 1/4 tape drive).

I have every tape drive but DAT, as I order all my and my customer
machines with LTO tapes. Better, faster, more reliable (in my opinion). I
can't convert to DAT.

Subject: QIC Tape Conversion Services?

Hello list,

I am getting ready to replace my 520 with a new E4A and I see that the
tapes are incompatible. The 520 has a 1/4" QIC tape while the new system
comes with a DAT drive. I have quite a few off-line backups stored on
QIC
tapes that I periodically need access to. Does anyone know of reliable
conversion services where I might be able to get these converted?

Or, is there an inexpensive third party QIC drive that might be an
option? If so, how does would it connect to the system?
