Hi all,
A while back, 7-Zip was suggested for my project to password protect Zip files from the iSeries.
I know there was some discussion at the time (messages below) on issues Jay was having loading the software.
Apparently at the time he loaded the files to /home/qsecofr without doing the /cd step?
Well, he's trying to copy it to the right folder and it's not working.
I'm trying to use it on the iSeries... I tried call 'qp2term' and p7 expecting to get the help text,
Instead I'm getting /QOpenSys/usr/bin/-sh: p7: not found.
I'm not sure what he needs to do, but he asked me to check with the group on this.

This is where the p7 stuff is.... /usr/local/lib/p7zip I copied it in from the qsecofr location... check with them on the error.

In the testing phase, CSR99997.
When we go live it's going to be run from a Robot job, presumably under QSYSOPR?
The zip file will actually contain the nightly DMGT transmissions, that replace the nightly job taken from the menu.

Jay,
The 7-zip isn't working... I think it needs to be loaded according to Scott Klement's instructions, including the directory.
Here's the link and the forwarded information from Scott's message.
The link was this:
http://www.scottklement.com/p7zip/
According to Scott's message (below)
The instructions on my page have you do this:
cd /
tar xf /tmp/p7zip.tar
The "cd /" part sets your CWD to /. Therefore the files shoudl appear in /usr/local
(Me again)
It seems not to be working with it loaded to another folder.
I've been reading through Scott's articles, and I found a quick way to test.
If it's working correctly this should work:
1. Get to the PASE command line by typing 'call qp2term' and enter.
2. From the PASE command line, type p7 and enter.
It's supposed to give all the help information for p7 zip software.
Instead it's giving the message
/QOpenSys/usr/bin/-sh: p7: not found.

TAR extracts to relative pathnames. So the files should be placed under whatever your CWD was when you ran the tar command.
That's why the instructions on my page have you do this:
cd /
tar xf /tmp/p7zip.tar
The "cd /" part sets your CWD to /. Therefore the files shoudl appear in /usr/local
If you did not do the cd / beforehand, then the files will be in whatever your CWD was when you issued the 'tar' command. Don't ask me what it was, I wasn't there.

If they do not show up there, are they in the /home/qsecofr directory?
Are you getting any spool file output with errors? Anything in your
joblog? Scott you on board to help out. This now surpasses my
knowledge.

I have the p7zip.tar stmf in /home/qsecofr
When I do the tar xf /home/qsecofr/p7zip.tar I just get the # symbol
but I cannot find the folders /usr/local/lib/p7zip... where would
those be placed?
