Bob,

I have only seen this a couple of times on my system and restarting is fix (at least for me). The .jar I built for Aaron was a recompile for Java 6. I have an installer jar at my web site http://www.petesworkshop.com/downloads/tn5250j-install-0.6.2_beta-1.jar. The latest, and I have updated the SF SVN repository (so you could build if you wanted), is 6.2-beta1.

I installed this fresh, just now, on an XP machine and it installed and ran fine. I also have it running in Linux (SuSE 10.2) and Windows 7. So I am not sure what to make of your issue. Since you can connect with telnet at the command prompt, I'm stumped.

The "warning" you get at startup is normal. What is abnormal is a stack trace. I also get Out of heap space messages that will cause it to crash after running it for several days so there is probably a leak or two that needs to be plugged and I agree with Aaron, one day we need to trim up the memory usage by running a profiler and getting to the bottom of things.

Pete

I checked everything and the settings look correct. When I start/connect the session I see the device configuration status on the iSeries and it says it's varied on, and sitting at the Signon screen. The desktop session starts, but is just a blank screen.

"Also, take a look at the "DOS" execution window associated with the jar (if there is
one). I've seen situations where tn5250j dumps a stacktrace (known bug,
to me at least) because of the number of sessions variable wasn't
initialized."

I do see a Warning message in the DOS execution window, here it is:
10430 [Thread-5] WARN org.tn5250j.framework.tn5250.DataStreamProducer - load stream error 770

"BTW the "official" site is tn5250j.sourceforge.net. I had patched
tn5250j for Aaron because I am a committer on the project and he
downloaded it from my site and also posted it on his. One of these days
(and I have been waiting for about 4 years now...) I'll clean up the
main bugs and put together a new distro for download at SF. Someday..."

I did go back and download from tn5250j.sourceforge.net that is what I'm running now.
My PC is running java version 1.6.

Thanks, Bob

Greetings, I have downloaded the tn5250j.jar from www.mowyourlawn.com (Thanks) and now I'm stuck.

Configured a connection to my iSeries.
Connect with the client on my PC and I see is a blank screen with a cursor in row 1/column 1 and "X - System" displayed on the bottom left side of the screen.

Do I need to run something on the server side to get this working?

Thank you,
Bob
