If that is true, that would be the best and quickest of all solutions. I've
placed my order for the software. I believe by ordering 6.1 is the only way
to get that cd, correct? No download?

Sounds like installer issues. If you have active SWMA, go use V6R1
System i Access. You can keep your system on V5R4, System i Access is
downward compatible.

IBM completely revamped the installer in System i Access V6R1, and now
uses the MSI Format that's recommended for Windows programs. They
added proper x64 support, and deployment is much cleaner now.

In a few days, you will also be able to get your hands on V7R1 IBM i
Access, which should still be compatible with V5R4.
