Windows XP Mode is a virtual machine of Windows XP. Do you see a
particular reason why this wouldn't work?

If you just use basic 5250 and have SWMA, you can order System i
Access V6R1 and use that directly. However, System i Navigator and
other features will not work back on a V5R2 system. Have you
considered getting a new machine?
