Rob,

Now that's just plain weird; i.e., contrary to my tests. The only difference that I see is QAUTOVRT is '0' here. I guess that another difference may be that the PC that I was using for tests is at V5R4 of Client Access. My PC is at V6R1, but, since I have *AllObj on this (test) machine, I thought that the tests might be invalid. On the other hand, the problem / concern would seem to me to be at the system level, not the Emulator level.

I wonder if this is a change to 6.1 or a PTF I don't have for 5.4. I'll search the APAR's and, if I don't find a relevant one, I guess I'll file a PMR (maybe IBM has seen this before).

Thanks.

CRTDEVPRT DEVD(ROBPRT) DEVCLS(*VRT) TYPE(3812) MODEL(1) ONLINE(*NO)
FONT(11)
Did not vary it on.

Configure an 5250 display session with system i access for windows. Make
it ROBPRT. Try to connect. Get "E8903 Device not valid for session".

DLTDEVD DEVD(ROBPRT)

Try to connect and it now works.

Don't think I did anything fancy on this lpar.
QAUTOVRT = 250
QAUTOCFG = 0=Off
