I tried it in Firefox, and got this error:

Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap

So I am disabling TLS1 in Firefox to see if I get a different error. There
is no option for SSL2 in Firefox, only SSL3 and TLS1.

Google Chrome had the same results as IE - no resolution of connection, just
timeout.

If your problem at this point is simply to connect IE to HMC1 or HMC2,
and you're certain you have your laptop in the correct network (hint GW
= your laptop IP) I've always had to uncheck TLS1.0 in IE/internet
options/advanced/security.

Here is the config:

iSeries: HMC1: 192.168.5.250
iSeries: HMC2: 192.168.16.30

Windows System:

LAN1: 192.168.5.12
LAN2: 192.168.16.20

LAN2 -> direct into HMC2
LAN1 -> switch <- HMC1 controlled by DHCP

From 192.168.5.12, http://192.168.5.250 does not return a resulting
page,
just timeout.
From 192.168.16.20, http://192.168.16.30 does not return a resulting
page,
just timeout.

I am on a Power 5, 9405-520.

The original IP addresses worked (192.168.2.147) and that is how I
changed
the HMC1/2 addresses.

Ssh/telnet into 192.168.5.250 results in a timeout.

Thanks for any advice!

On the iSeries, HMC1 and HMC2 are plugged into what? What are their IP
address?

On the HMC, Eth1 and Eth2 are plugged into what? What are their IP
address?

(You don't have to tell the real IP address but I want to make sure they
are all in the same subnet or something along that line.)

You will not need to use that Cisco cable but a PC/Laptop that you can
set the IP address manually.

Now are you running a Power 5 520 or a Power 6 520?

Power 5:
HMC1 default is 192.168.2.147
HMC2 default is 192.168.3.147

Power 6:
HMC1 default is 169.254.2.147
HMC2 default is 169.254.3.147

These are the ports on the FSP on the iSeries and labeled as such.

Subject: RE: ASMI and changing IP address

Hello Chris,

Thank you for the response. I was in the ASMI and I changed eth0 and
eth1 to our LAN ip addresses. Eth0 was set to automatic (DHCP) and eth1
was set to a static IP. Both IPs respond to ping from the LAN.

http://192.168.5.250 does not load. IE sits and waits and then displays
the page can not be displayed error (not the connection failure error).
https on that IP immediately fails.

Ssh and telnet to 192.168.5.250:80 also fail to connect (timeout).

The front console does not have any SRC errors. In manual mode, option
30 shows that T1 and T2 (HMC1 and HMC2) have the IP addresses that I
configured.

I did set the new IP addresses while I was using the ASMI over the web.
The IBM docs did not say that this would be a problem. What I really was
setting out to do was to set the LAN IP addresses for the non-management
Ethernet ports, silly me.

The IBM docs indicate that I need to use the serial mode of ASMI to fix
the IP addresses. I have a blue Cisco serial cable with the RJ45 end
that I can use to plug into the front console port (S1).
