I think I should change to a LAN console, as there is more flexibility
with that, AFAIK. We have 2 Ethernet ports P1-T5 and P1-T6 on a 5706-001
- the former is where our Ethernet line is defined - resource CMN05.

You'd need to change that, as T5 is the only legible port for LAN Console.

SST, right? But I have no console right now to do some things. Unless I
can do everything in SST or from the control panel.

You can. I've migrated a system with a broken Thin Console to LAN
Console by telnetting into the box, changing the system values and
enabling the SST LAN Adapter using STRSST, etc. No IPL required. Took
about 10 minutes. Of course i had to kick all users of the box for a
short moment to move the LAN cable from port T5 to T6.
