Scott,

You're right. I had not tested this method using a '&' in the document string before I posted. The only difference is that I don't get an error; the PCO command prompt window just flashes and goes away, no error message even in the job log.

My bad.

Won't that exhibit the same problem that John was trying to solve?! It
seems to do the exact same thing.

I created a general purpose document handler program that looks like this:

PGM PARM(&DOC)
DCL VAR(&DOC) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(100)

MONMSG MSGID(IWS4032) EXEC(GOTO CMDLBL(END))
STRPCO
MONMSG MSGID(IWS4010)

STRPCCMD PCCMD(&DOC) PAUSE(*NO)

END: ENDPGM

An example of a program that uses the handler is:

PGM
DCL VAR(&DOC) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(100)

CHGVAR VAR(&DOC) +
VALUE('S:\IT_AS400\Documentation\Procedures\EOD_Printer.doc')
CALL PGM(DOCHANDLER) PARM(&DOC)

ENDPGM
