Did you see the Redbook? The abstract is here - http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg244504.html

That does mention an SNMP Manager on the iSeries, and that is what monitors for those messages, right?

Does anyone know of a simple SNMP application that would run on iSeries and be able to monitor an SNMP enabled UPS and control an automated shutdown of the iSeries? When we had a UPS just for the iSeries we could connect a cable from the UPS to the iSeries and the iSeries could detect when the UPS lost utility power and could initiate a controlled shutdown. When we went to a large UPS for the entire datacenter we lost that ability. We now have a network card in our large UPS that can issue SNMP alerts and would like to try and receive those alerts on the iSeries. I found some documentation on available APIs that I might be able to use but really do not want to reinvent the wheel if there is a product available or some example code someone already did.

Thanks
