When you say simple Save & Restore, do you mean
full system save or libraries & ifs save/restore.
Without a documented plan I was assuming the configuration
was too diff to be restored & I would have to do in pieces
(profiles, libraries, ifs, workstation & printers, rstaut).

Jim,

Why not get the 800 to V5Rr4M5, and then do a simple SAVE and
Restore.

Subject: Upgrade path for model 800 to 520 Express

Is there a documented plan for upgrading (side by side) a Model 800 (V5R4)
to a Model 520 Express?
I've searched IBM for a while, found nothing, and assume not. But the BP
left the impression w/customer (and he perhaps misunderstood) it's a
supported upgrade.
Also, losing the twinax console on the 800 for lan console on new system.
I've done unsupported upgrades before but wanted to check.
Any recent experience gotchas?
